The business

The business takes a long-view approach to agriculture. Some crops return within a season. Others take years before reaching meaningful production. Rather than choosing between short-term and long-term agriculture, Tenby Farms combines both.
This creates an operation that remains active while longer-term plantings mature and allows investment in the future without leaving the land idle in the present.
The model
The farm model
Agriculture works on different timelines.
Oil palm and cashew are planted for the long term. Once established, they can remain productive for many years, but they require patience in the early stages. The period between planting and harvest is measured in years rather than months.
Cassava operates on a different cycle. It can be planted, harvested, and replanted within a much shorter period, providing regular agricultural activity while longer-term crops continue to develop.
The combination creates balance within the operation. Long-term crops build future production capacity while annual crops keep the farm active and productive throughout the year.

Oil Palm
Oil palm forms one of the farm's principal long-term investments.
The crop requires years of cultivation before reaching significant production, but once established it can remain productive for an extended period. The focus is on developing healthy stands capable of supporting sustained harvests over the long term.
As production grows, attention increasingly shifts beyond cultivation alone to how harvested output can be handled, processed, and moved efficiently.

Cashew
Cashew represents the farm's second major tree-crop programme.
Like oil palm, it is planted with a long horizon in mind. The crop requires ongoing management through its early years before reaching meaningful production levels.
The long-term objective is to participate more fully in the value chain surrounding the crop rather than focusing solely on primary production.

Cassava
Cassava provides a shorter production cycle within the wider farm operation.
Its cultivation allows the farm to maintain continuous agricultural activity while tree crops mature. Regular planting and harvesting cycles create operational continuity and help support the wider farming programme.
Cassava also serves an established local market, making it an important part of the farm's current production mix.

Fish Farming
Tenby Fish Farm is being developed alongside the crop operation.
The planned aquaculture activities will introduce an additional agricultural cycle measured in months rather than years. Running fish production alongside crop cultivation creates another source of agricultural output while making use of resources already available within the wider operation.

Processing capacity is planned as a natural extension of the farming business.
Agricultural value is often created after harvest through sorting, grading, handling, and processing. As farm output grows, the business intends to increase the amount of that activity carried out closer to production rather than relying entirely on external operators.
The objective is to strengthen the connection between cultivation and the stages that follow it.
